Incredible Time in History
by Teresa Jackson on April 27th, 2020

What an incredible time in history! In the last 21 years, Sharing Life has been tasked to serve our community during difficult times.  Tornados, hurricanes, floods, and the 2008 recession. Each provided challenges and opportunities to serve in extraordinary ways. This season of need is different. We are in the midst of it. The other tragedies were mostly an event. Even though the event was tragic and left much damage behind, it happened and it was over. Serving through the COVID-19 pandemic requires us to be more fluid than ever.  Each day brings new challenges and opportunities to learn that must be incorporated to provide safety to our clients, volunteers, donors, and staff members. It is tough to stay positive when the news is always bad. So here is some good news! Our community is kind, compassionate, and generous! Volunteers show up every day to serve perfect strangers who need food. Community members are sewing masks to keep my staff and volunteers safe. Church on the Hill has provided lunch for the Sharing Life team every day since March 16! c|Life has shown up to volunteer every shift, and brought a big cooler full of soft drinks to share!I have asked for favors during this unprecedented time from many people, all have said yes, allowing us to concentrate on serving as many people in need as possible! People are praying for our health and safety. Also, giving the food items we lack and money to keep us rolling. We have enjoyed the unwavering support of the City of Mesquite, Mayor Archer, the Council, and City Manager Cliff Keheley. When I look back over the last 21 years of serving, I am certain we would not have made it without Mr. Keheley!Thank you for everything! I am so blessed to call you a supporter and friend of Sharing Life. My prayer is that you will be healthy and feel peace today, and in the weeks to come.
"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." John 14:17
