Advent Peace

Advent Week TWO: PEACE

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you; I do not give it to you as the world does. Do not let your hearts be distressed or lacking in courage. –John 14:27

This Christmas season will have more meaning – especially with all the downs we have experienced due to Covid-19. Some are mourning loved ones, some are struggling mentally and physically, some are barely scraping by financially, some are still struggling with divisions caused by this year’s election, some are heartbroken over racial discontent, and some are relieved that this year is almost over. And these are just the tip of the iceberg!

So we pray, “Righteous Father, we are struggling with so much this year. We are tired and not sure we can handle much more. WE NEED YOU!” His answer to us is this: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you; I do not give it to you as the world does. Do not let your hearts be distressed or lacking in courage.” (John 14:27) You see, Dearly Beloved One, Jesus never meant for us to grapple with struggles on our own. He offers Himself not just one time, but daily in every moment of every second. He wants us to grab onto Him and never let go. He loves us so much that He willingly sacrificed Himself for us on the cross. How much more does He want a relationship with us? Call to Him, cling to Him, pray to Him, and most importantly, NEVER LET UP. He is our only hope for survival. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Light. No one comes to the Father except through Him. (John 14:6)

Lord, we are choosing to live in Your peace and cast out all fear, doubt, oppression, loathing, pride, judgment, anger, unforgiveness, and selfishness in Jesus’ name. For we know that You are the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and You love us with a perfect love that knows no limits. We love and trust You with every area of our lives, our families and our friends. You are holy, righteous and true, Father. We are Your children and proudly call you Abba.  In Jesus’ most precious, holy name we pray. Amen.
“You will keep Him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.” –Isaiah 26:3

“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” –John 16:33

“Finally, brothers and sisters, rejoice, set things right, be encouraged, agree with one another, live in peace, and the God of love and peace will be with you.” –2 Corinthians 13:11

“The God of peace will quickly crush satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.” –Romans 16:20

“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace.” –Numbers 6:24-26

“Now may the God of peace Himself make you completely holy and may your spirit and soul and body be kept entirely blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” –1 Thessalonians 5:23
